Celebrating 5/27 in section 527. We wish it could have been a more festive occasion - we had considered quite the guest list that included the regular characters from the section (See our upcoming glossary/who's who). Since it was quite cold and reached a low of 34 degrees on this late May evening, we decided that it not quite the right moment for the ice cream cake that we had planned.
The Cubs were playing the Dodgers in the second game of a three game set, having won the day before on a BEAUTIFUL Memorial Day 1:20 game. Also, it was Kosuke Fukudome Bobblehead night, so we got there very early. Too early. It was very very cold and the place was full of early bobblehead-seekers.
In celebration of the weather, however, I did purchase some "Magic Mittens." That means that the opportunistic merchandise vendors at Wrigley were out of gloves and were selling socks - yes, socks. I bought a $12 pair of Cubs-themed business socks to keep my hands warm. I don't feel that bad about it as an incredibly inebriated idiot who was way too drunk for an hour before game time purchased what he thought was a "Tan" cap, but rung up as a "Ladies Mango Cap." I suppose he was sober enough to read that on the register output because he beseached everyone around us "Don't tell nobody man. Please?"
The Chachbag, of course, had brought his complimentary bank account blanket, which he later transformed into his "I'm Gay For Russell Martin Burqah." The Chach claims to only "respect the abilities of the young catcher for the Trolleydodgers," but we all know what that means. He's totally gay for Russell Martin.

Michael Johns - one of the American Idol losers sang the national anthem. I understand that you're close personal friends of Mark DeRosa, Mr. Johns, but it's appropriate to take your hat off when you're singing the Star Spangled Banner.
At some point in the evening, the Chachbag turned to me in his Gay For Russell Martin Burqah and asked me "Is that J.Lo playing?" And then the conversation turned to the song "Big in Japan." by Alphaville. The last part might even sound a little more suspcious than the first were it not for a tangent leading from a conversation about Tuffy Rhodes three homers on opening day for the Cubs about a decade ago.
The final tidbit of wonderful wisdom that arose from the evening sprang from my trip to get some hot chocolate. I stated how much I was enjoying the chocolate-y goodness of my beverage when the Chachbag next to me told me that a Hot Chocolate Colonic does wonders for the system. When I asked him why, he responded; "Chocolate-y Goodness?"
Final Score: Cubs 3 - Dodgers 1 - Chachbag - Totally Gay For Russell Martin
